Statewide review of the Patient Travel Assistance Scheme (PTAS)
The Tasmanian Department of Health has commissioned KP Health to perform a Statewide review of the Patient Travel Assistance Scheme (PTAS). PTAS is important for King Island residents to access the health care they need. KP Health is flying to King Island, for two days in the last week of September, to hear from residents about their PTAS experiences.
PTAS provides financial help with travel and accommodation costs to Tasmanian residents who need to travel to access healthcare. There are rules around who is eligible for financial help, published on the Tasmanian Government Department of Health website. The KP Health team is working to streamline PTAS processes and make sure PTAS is patient focused.
Doctor Kelly Shaw will be in the King Island Council Chambers, in George Street, between 10am and 3pm Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th September. Locals are invited to say hello and share their views about PTAS.
For those who are unable to make these times please call Dr Shaw on 0448 552 617 or email at Kelly.shaw@kphealth.com.au
