Safety First

The King Island Council is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, environment and systems for its workers, community and visitors to our Island. Our responsibility is to ensure that our operations and activities, including community programs, do not place anyone at risk of harm or injury.

As part of this commitment, Council have this week welcomed IIonka Roediger in the role of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor.

IIonka has been on King Island for over a year and brings with her a wealth of experience gained in similar roles in Western Australia, Queensland and here on the Island.

IIonka will be hitting the ground running given the list of HSE initiatives Council currently have underway, including the introduction of  Zero Harm methodology, the issue of new PPE Uniforms, Advanced Safety Training and the introduction of our Safety Management System.
