Re-thinking waste on King Island
The King Island Waste Management Strategy 2019-2029 has been developed with a view to guiding residents, businesses and Council to reduce, reuse, recycle and manage waste on the Island. The Strategy was prepared by a specialist waste management consultant, A.Prince Consulting.
You can download the Strategy below or view it in hard copy at Council Chambers, 10 George Street, Currie.
The Strategy will also be available at the Library, Bakery, Elle’s, Senior Citizens and Ochre Health.

As your views on the Strategies recommendations are important for Council to consider, you are invited to submit your comments by 18 October 2019.

Council will start assessing each of the Strategy’s 62 recommendations in November this year. Recommendations on how residents and businesses can reduce waste and channel recoverable materials for recycling and reuse will be the subject of more detailed consultations to ensure practices are workable and affordable.
In the meantime, Council is actively addressing Environment Protection Authority compliance requirements at its Charles Street and Parenna landfill sites.
