Message from TasPorts
There is little doubt that we are now operating in uncharted waters as the global community urgently seeks to contain and respond to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. TasPorts commitment to King Island, along with its subsidiary Bass Island Line, remains steadfast.
Moving freight in and out of Tasmania is a critical element of TasPorts operations and the company has taken steps to ensure health and safety remain a top priority. Our primary objective is to ensure that our ports remain open and operational to enable critical trade activities.
The Premier of Tasmania has also reinforced the importance of ensuring that Tasmanian borders remain open to trade and that the appropriate restrictions are in place for non-essential travel into and out of Tasmania. This will not interfere with the existing arrangements for shipping for the King Island Community.
TasPorts continues to take direction from the State and Federal Government and is working closely with relevant agencies, including Department of Health and Australian Border Force, to ensure the most up-to-date information is being provided, and suitable measures are in place at our ports.
We encourage the community to stay up-to-date with TasPorts arrangements by checking our website regularly via www.tasports.com.au/coronavirus/
