Long Service Awards – LGAT Conference 2026 | Elected Members
We are thrilled to congratulate the Deputy Mayor, Vernon Philbey and Cr David Bowden for their acknowledgement by the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT) for their long service awards last week at the LGAT conference held in Hobart. The long service awards were presented to deserving elected members from around our state.
Deputy Mayor Vernon Philbey was in attendance so able to personally accept his award by LGAT President Mick Tucker. Vernon has serves as Mayor of King Island twice previously, 1993-99 & 2022 as well as the current Deputy Mayor and long serving Councillor of 25+ years.
The Mayor Marcus Blackie presented Cr David Bowden his long service award (25 years) on behalf of LGAT at the Ordinary Council meeting this week. David held the position of Warden from 1987-1992 and current serving Councillor.
