Hire of Council Facilities
Council has a number of facilities available for community use including:
- Council Chambers – video link functionality & wall mounted smart boards for use
- Town Hall and Supper Room – these facilities have capacity for sit down functions of up to 150 people, use of a data projector, sound system & stage if required
- Commercial Kitchen
- Race Course Complex – 1600m turf racecourse track, running rails, showground pavilion, dressage arenas, pony club, toilet blocks, two licensed bars and kiosk
- Currie Football Oval & Club Room (for hire outside of the football season)
- King Island Hub and Annexe
If you are interested in using these facilities please contact the Council to request the availability of a facility. If vacant, you will then be required to complete a Facility Hire Booking Form 2026. Depending on the use of the facility, you may be required to submit a deposit and/or a cleaning bond. You will then be provided with an inspection of the facility prior to use along with a key. Your final invoice (if applicable) will be sent once a post-event inspection has been carried out by a member of Council.

All fees and charges are inclusive of GST where applicable.

Community Organisations exempt from hire fees: Special Committees of Council
Community Organisations exempt from additional hire fees to meet set up/pack down requirements, but still required to pay hire fees and / or bonds for events:
KI School Leavers Ball, KIDHS – Presentation Night, KI Drama Club, POKI
All fees and charges are inclusive of GST where applicable.
Note – Conditions apply for the hire of any facilities.
A cleaning Charge of $200.00 may apply if the venue is not left in its pre hire condition.
Fees may be waived by the General Manager.

Residential Rate: King Island Residents booking as individuals, or King Island based not for profit / social enterprise organisations, excluding government. Collaboration or partnership with King Island-based entities.
Non-Residential Rate: Any for-profit organisation or government agency. Any individuals non-residential to King Island will be charged at the non-residential rate.
