King Island Beach Access

Understandably, there has been a lot of angst about the closures of beaches on island. While all Parks and Wildlife Reserves remain closed until further notice, there is still public land and beaches around the island that residents are able to access. These areas are highlighted in purple on the maps below and include the following areas:

Crown Land beaches

Currie – Big Beach to Devils Gap

North – Yellow Rock Beach (from Quarantine Bay to the western side of Cape Farewell)

Naracoopa – Fraser Beach (from Naracoopa Foreshore to the boundary of Sea Elephant Conservation Area)

Tasports – Grassy and Currie Ports

TasPorts in their Facebook post on 30 March confirmed that both Currie and Grassy Harbour remain publicly accessible.
It does, however, remain critically important that state government directives are followed while using these facilities to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the King Island community.
