Services Australia manage the Farm Household Allowance (FHA) program which is an Australian Government financial support payment for Primary producers in financial hardship.  Farm Household Allowance (FHA) is a fortnightly payment for a farmer or partner of a farmer. It’s paid for up to 4 years in a specific 10-year period.

In short, the FHA support is a fortnightly payment up to 4 years with additional access to professional advice and training up to $10,000 over their lifetime. The payment is around $700 each per fortnight for a couple, and around $800 per fortnight for a single person. The combined personal and net farm assets must be below $5.5 million and farm profit below the cut off income limit, with special rules if the farm is making a loss and there’s off farm income. The farm income is assessed on the current circumstance, i.e. current financial year estimate. Services Australia are aware of King Island’s circumstances at the moment, so are keen to support people as is applicable.
