Safeguarding Volunteering – Community Consultation
Volunteering is an integral part of the King Island community, with volunteers and volunteer-led organisations providing a broad range of services, from emergency response to sports and recreation opportunities, wellbeing to child care.
Supported by Volunteering Tasmania, a group of King Islanders have formed a co-design group to drive the creation of a strategy to safeguard the future of volunteering in our community. This group have worked together to examine what works well in volunteering on King Island, and what could be improved. To create our community-led strategy, we have identified eight themes that we want to focus on to improve the sustainability of volunteering on King Island.
We are now asking the community to comment on the ideas and potential actions the group have identified for each of the themes. Specifically, we want to know which you think is the most achievable; which is the most impactful; and which would be the most exciting. An online survey is available via the link below. Alternatively, a hard copy of this survey will be available to pick up at Council offices, KIRDO or the Currie Post Office.
Responses are due by Monday 27 June to allow collation of the data and to inform the group’s discussion at the next meeting scheduled for the end of the month.
The documents and links below are provided for context about the project and why King Island is pursuing it:
