King Island Hub

Open: August 31, 2022 - Close: September 11, 2022

The King Island Hub is a place where the local community and visitors can come together with a shared experience of King Island’s environment, produce, heritage and culture. An inviting visitor information centre will facilitate visitor access to attractions and events. Meeting rooms and offices will provide for local and visiting businesses and community organisations on a long term or ad hoc basis. A comfortable lounge area will provide our residents with a place to come together out of the weather. A flexible event space will be available for community organisations and events as well as hire by off-Island businesses looking to hold meetings with good technology and connectivity.

Multiple rounds of community consultation undertaken since 2019 have provided valuable insights into what our community wants to see in this facility. This feedback, together with detailed discussions with potential tenants of the building, has been considered in deciding the location and design of the King Island Hub. Our project team are now preparing a Development Application based on this feedback and intend to submit it for approval in late September.

Our project lead, Ms Brett Torossi, will be available on-Island between Monday 5 September and Wednesday 7 September for any member of the community to learn about the current detail of this project and provide input on how the space can best be used for the benefit of the community.
