Have your say on the Future of Local Government Review – Thursday 2 March 2023
The Tasmanian Government has commissioned the Local Government Board to undertake a broad review into the future of local government in Tasmania. The review will look at the fundamentals of the local government system: the role it should play in supporting communities, the services it should be delivering, and the most effective ways of doing so.
COMMUNITY MEETING ON KING ISLAND
King Island Town Hall, Currie
Thursday 2 March 2023
5:30pm – 7:30pm
In December, the Board released the Future of Local Government Review Stage 2 Options Paper, which lays out a broad and ambitious set of ideas and options for improving Tasmania’s current system of local government. You can read the proposed options at www.engage.futurelocal.tas.gov.au.
Now, the Board wants to test these options with the community, councillors and council staff. In February and March 2023, we are hosting meetings across Tasmania. These meetings are the opportunity to come and discuss the draft options for local government reform. The Board encourages everyone to attend, and looks forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas.
