In committing to become a Councillor, elected members declare that they will abide by the Local Government Act 1993 and the King Island Council Code of Conduct.
Both of these have confidentiality provisions, which stipulate that Councillors must protect confidential Council information in his or her possession or knowledge, and only release it if he or she has the authority to do so.
Councillors took the opportunity to reaffirm this commitment on behalf of the King Island Community whom they serve, with the commitment on display at Council Chambers as well as below.
